Classical Tunes for Two

Volumes 1, 2, and 3

These three volumes contain a total of 138 classical tunes arranged for two players. Brief biographical notes on the composers and a glossary of the musical terms used in the pieces are included in each book.

Duo arrangements of the tunes in this collection, in the same keys, are available for violins, violas, cellos, basses, and mandolins.

Classical Tunes for Two, Volume 1” contains the easiest arrangements and adds options for soprano recorder and alto recorder books. “Classical Tunes for Two, Volume 2” contains tunes that are a bit more difficult, and “Classical Tunes for Two, Volume 3” has works that are even more challenging.

Composers in Volume 1 include Atwood, Bach, Beringer, Bertalotti, Chedeville, Couperin, Delibes, Eccles, Gluck, Haydn, King, Lasso, Machaut, Morley, Mozart/Attwood, Mozart, Pergolesi, Schumann, and Zipoli.

Composers in Volume 2 include Bach, Beethoven, Beringer, Brumel, Gumpelzhaimer, Handel, Haydn, King, Krieger, Lasso, Loeillet, Morley, Mozart, Naudot, Purcell, Rameau, Vierdank, and Weber.

Composers in Volume 3 include Bach, Beckwith, Beethoven, Corelli, Corrette, Couperin, Demantius, Galuppi, Grieg, Gumpelzhaimer, Lasso, L. Mozart, W.A. Mozart, Naudot, Pleyel, Purcell, Satie, Schick, and Yradier.

Each Tunes for Two collection consists of individual spiral-bound duet books presented in score form with melody on the top line and harmony beneath so you can play each tune by yourself or with others. The tunes are laid out so that there are no page turns to interrupt the flow of your playing.

Review of Classical Tunes for Two Violas, Volume 1, 2, & 3...

“Each volume progresses in difficulty---Vol. 1, grade 2 & a few grade 3 pieces; Vol. 2, grade 3; Vol. 3, grades 3 & 4 (with one piece grade 5-‘Grandmothers' Menuet’ by Grieg). Both viola parts are at the same grade level and melodies often move to the 2nd viola line. Each line has its own melodic and rhythmic interest. A few easy double stops and chords are given primarily to the 2nd viola in each volume. I know the wide selection of compositions included in these volumes will be enjoyed by many violists, both professionals and amateurs alike. In addition to the many well-known composers represented, the inclusion of many lesser known ones is most welcome. All 3 volumes--‘Highly recommended’.”
