This workshop will start with the very basics of playing harmonica. Within the first few minutes participants will be playing their first simple folk tunes. During the session we will explore how the notes in each octave are physically laid out and discuss the advantages this offers as well as the challenges it creates.

for ages 10 thru senior citizen.

Most of the songs that will be worked on in this workshop are a bit more challenging than the ones in the “Beginner” workshop. Using a 10 hole C major diatonic harmonica this workshop will include songs in the keys of C major, G major, A minor, and F major.

Participants with shipping addresses in the United States will be mailed a copy of the Harmonica Christmas book which features traditional music notation, harmonica tablature, guitar chords, and lyrics for the first verse and chorus for each song. Songs included are “Joy To the World,” “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Up on the Housetop,” “We Three Kings,” “Jolly Old Saint Nicolas,” “The First Noel,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Oh Christmas Tree,” “Oh Come All Ye Faithful,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. We hope to work on about half of these carols during the workshop.
