The 11th Annual
Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee
Registration for fiddlers is from 1:30 PM to 2:15 PM.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the Open Division.
CATEGORIES:
Open Division - a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice
Singing Fiddler's Contest - one tune that includes the fiddle and the fiddler's voice
Twin Fiddlers' Contest - two fiddlers performing one tune together
Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler - a fiddle tune on any instrument other than fiddle
Hocus-Pocus - magical fiddle, i.e., cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.
|
GENERAL RULES (which apply to all categories):
- Each category will consist of one round. In case of a tie high score there will be a one tune play-off.
- Tuning on stage is fine and dandy, and much better than playing out of tune.
- Contestants may play with one or two backup musicians, neither to be playing the melody.
- Contestants are encouraged to announce their tunes. It helps to keep the audience informed and awake.
- Contestants will be judged on pitch, tone, rhythm and presentation.
- All decisions of the judges are final.

Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted free of charge.
