There once was a time in the days of olde
Before there were books, when stories were told
Stories that did more than just entertain
Stories that taught and that tried to explain

Stories of hist’ry, of myst’ry, and might
Stories to teach the wrong from the right
Children would listen and remember them well
So when they became parents they had stories to tell

“Noah’s Ark” is a lively, humanistic, mini-musical adaptation of the story of Noah and the great flood that explores the fate of the humans and other animals on the ark from the day they boarded to the day they disembarked. This delightful Greenblatt & Seay production can be performed with your group as part of the cast.

The original words, by David Seay, examine the relationships between the inhabitants of the ark, and how they managed to survive from one unpredictable day to the next. The music, by Debby Greenblatt, suggests many of the globes great musical traditions, such as blues, Cajun, calypso, Klezmer, a “Gilbert & Sullivan”-style jig, a tango, and even a round.

David and Debby portray the project-oriented Noah and his patient wife, while members of your group fill the parts of the feuding brothers, the assertive daughters-in-law, and the sometimes skeptical animals.

The first performance of “Noah’s Ark,” was on the stage of the Jewish Community Center in Omaha. It was presented with a full cast with the dance studio’s young students as the animals and backed by The Metropolitan String Quartet. It has also been performed with a full cast at a Dinner Theater in Omaha,as part of our own Schoolhouse Performance Series here in the old Avoca schoolhouse, and in Aurora, Nebraska as part of a summer camp with the performance featured at the town’s summer festival. For ten years Greenblatt & Seay performed this show by themselves, switching between the various parts.

Multiple copies of the spiral bound scripts (with easy page turns) and CDs for the choir/cast to rehearse with are available for you group to rehearse with even when Greenblatt & Seay aren’t there.

Greenblatt & Seay can play all the musical accompaniment or supplement musicians from your group or community.

Grants From the Nebraska Arts Council’sArtist in Schools/Communities” or “Touring Programs” for partial funding of “Noah’s Ark” are available to qualified groups.
